Baseball Recap: Helias Takes a Loss

Helias was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Smith-Cotton Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-6 last Tuesday.

Helias' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Smith-Cotton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.

Helias and Smith-Cotton could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Crusaders (ranked 214th) will meet Lee's Summit (ranked 24th) at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Smith-Cotton will square off against Harrisonville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (169 vs. 39).
