Softball Recap: Burney Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Burney dropped their record down to 9-2 on Thursday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chester Volcanoes. The Raiders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Volcanoes earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Mia Perez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Perez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Isabella Prindiville also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Chester, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.

On Chester's side, Addisen Nashlund was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Kistle, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burney will host Fall River at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Chester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against CORE Butte at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lynx have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.84 runs per game on average), something the Volcanoes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
