League recap: Minarets' Reyes delivers best pitching performance from past week

West Sequoia league recap: 3/8/13

Sam Reyes was the best pitcher in West Sequoia this week, leading Minarets. Over the past week, he had two wins and 16 Ks.

Caruthers had a successful week, as it won four total games to lead the league. The Blue Raiders beat Coalinga 18-0, Kern Valley 7-2 and Sierra 15-1.

Riverdale boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks.

With two wins and 16 strikeouts, Reyes was the top pitcher in the league.

The league boasted five .400 hitters over the past week. They were led by Matt Luce, who hit .857 this week (6-for-7).



Matt Luce drove in five runners as the Mustangs defeated the Horned Toads 17-4 on Tuesday. He went 4-for-4 and scored two runs.

Reyes led Minarets to a win on February 27, as he notched ten strikeouts to beat Orosi, 9-1. He gave up one hit and one run over four innings of work.
