Softball Recap: Garfield Bulldogs vs. North Creek Jaguars
Garfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the North Creek Jaguars 11-5 on Saturday.
Garfield let Mae Valenta and Michelle Arimura run wild. Valenta went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Arimura went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Valenta has posted since back in April of 2024. Lissie Hogan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Garfield lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.
North Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Looking ahead, Garfield will head out to square off against Auburn Mountainview at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Creek, they will welcome Kamiak at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
