Basketball Recap: Fort Wayne Northrop Takes a Loss

Fort Wayne Northrop suffered their biggest loss since December 28, 2024 on Thursday. They lost 68-42 to the Homestead Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Spartans are ranked third).

Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Northrop still got an impressive performance from Swynn Jackson, who posted 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 27 games she's played dating back to last season. Brilee Day was another key player, putting up seven points.

This is the second loss in a row for Fort Wayne Northrop and nudges their season record down to 15-7. As for Homestead, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-2.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Fort Wayne Northrop will take on Fort Wayne North Side at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Homestead, they will square off against Fort Wayne Wayne at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th.
