Softball Recap: Waverly Takes a Loss

Waverly couldn't beat Harper Creek on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the first inning. The Warriors lost 20-5 to the Beavers. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Waverly saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was McKenna Bensinger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Bensinger is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Nevaeh Larner also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Waverly's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Harper Creek, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Waverly will welcome Fowlerville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Gladiators will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Harper Creek, they will head out to square off against Kalamazoo Central at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
