Baseball Recap: Platte Valley Victorious

Platte Valley's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Arlington Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for Platte Valley in their matchups with Arlington: they've now won five in a row.

Arlington's batters probably weren't too happy with Nolan Roberts, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up four walks). Roberts also allowed no hits, which is notable because Platte Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-13 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cael Smith and Hunter Hatzenbuelher did most of the damage at the plate: Smith went 2-for-4 with three runs and one double, while Hatzenbuelher went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. That's the most hits Hatzenbuelher has posted over his last 11 matches. Carson Hollst was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Platte Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Platte Valley's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Arlington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
