Softball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Lufkin Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Mt. Pleasant Tigers face off against Lufkin Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.

Mt. Pleasant had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Jacksonville on Tuesday. Mt. Pleasant blew past Jacksonville 11-5.

Meanwhile, Lufkin came tearing into Tuesday's contest with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tigers.

Mt. Pleasant has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. Lufkin's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-3.
