Volleyball Recap: Grove City Christian Comes Up Short

If Grove City Christian was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Harvest Prep on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Eagles came up short against the Fisher Catholic Irish on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Eagles were not able to make up for their defeat to the Irish from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Grove City Christian was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-17, 25-19.

Kinsey Hovance paced Grove City Christian's offense, picking up six kills. Hovance got some help from Lydia Lee and her 15 assists. Natalie Bailey controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Erica Sharp was nothing short of spectacular for Fisher Catholic: she had 14 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Sharp has posted since back in October of 2024.

Grove City Christian's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Fisher Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Grove City Christian will take on rival Berne Union at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Fisher Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Bishop Rosecrans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
