Basketball Recap: Jackson Willis Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Caledonia-Mumford

Geneseo won the last time they faced Caledonia-Mumford and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Geneseo Blue Devils were the clear victor by a 75-55 margin over the Caledonia-Mumford Raiders. The Blue Devils have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season.

Geneseo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Willis, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. What's more, Willis also posted a 44% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Avery Hepler, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on his way to 21 points and five boards.

Caledonia-Mumford lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Collin Foote, who went 7-for-17 en route to 15 points and five rebounds. He has become a key player for Caledonia-Mumford: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Potter, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 12 points and five boards.

Geneseo has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points over those games. As for Caledonia-Mumford, their record now sits at 7-11.

Looking ahead, Geneseo will challenge Le Roy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Geneseo knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Le Roy likes a good challenge. As for Caledonia-Mumford, they will square off against Oakfield-Alabama at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
