Softball Game Preview: Avon Eagles vs. Steele Comets

The Avon Eagles will square off against the Steele Comets at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Avon is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Monday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Midview.

Avon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jocelin Ochs, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Averie Reichert also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Steele fell victim to Elyria and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Comets have suffered since April 29, 2025.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Steele, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.

Avon was able to grind out a solid win over Steele when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 5-2. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
