Football Game Preview: Ramona Rams vs. Valley Christian Defenders + How To Watch

The Ramona Rams will head out to challenge the Valley Christian Defenders at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Ramona comes in on five and Valley Christian on six.

Ramona is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-13 victory over Hesperia. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight contests by 20 points or more so far this season.

Jesus Gonzalez went supernova, rushing for 75 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, while also throwing for 214 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 75 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Ramona also got a significant boost from Lorenzo Sims, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 161 yards.

Meanwhile, Valley Christian strolled past San Dimas with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-12.

Valley Christian's win came from a few key players Ramona will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Sean Bouma, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Another signal caller making a difference was Liam Sweeney, who threw for 190 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Ramona's win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Valley Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Saturday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Ramona has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 182.1 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Valley Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 95.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?

Everything came up roses for Ramona against Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, as the team secured a 42-13 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
