Basketball Game Preview: Gar-Field Red Wolves vs. Charles J. Colgan Sharks

Gar-Field hasn't had much luck against Charles J. Colgan recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gar-Field Red Wolves will host the Charles J. Colgan Sharks at 6:30 p.m.

Gar-Field is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They fell 46-34 to Forest Park.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Icys Carroll, who posted 17 points. That was a full 50% of Gar-Field's points, marking the 16th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Logan Sherill was another key player, putting up four points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Charles J. Colgan entered their tilt with Trinity Christian on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 58-40 victory over the Gryphons.

Charles J. Colgan's win came from a few key players Gar-Field will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Milana Zeraye, who went 7 for 9 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Thrash, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Charles J. Colgan was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Charles J. Colgan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Gar-Field, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-14.

Gar-Field took a serious blow against Charles J. Colgan when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 58-15. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Gar-Field was down 28-6.
