Volleyball Recap: Torrey Pines Takes a Loss

Torrey Pines lost against Mira Costa back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Falcons fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 3-2.

While Torrey Pines ultimately came up short, they really made Mira Costa work, particularly in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 31-29, 25-21, 23-25, 20-25, 15-12.

Leading Mira Costa to victory were Brynn Barry and Cayenne Ceman. Barry had 18 digs and two assists, while Ceman had six digs and two blocks. Those two blocks gave Ceman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Stinger, who had seven digs and two aces.

Torrey Pines' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mira Costa, their victory bumped their record up to 5-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Torrey Pines and San Dieguito Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on September 2. As for Mira Costa, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harvard-Westlake at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
