Baseball Recap: Ephrata Extends Winning Streak to Three

Ephrata extended their winning streak to three on Monday, bumping them up to 14-5. They never let the Penn Manor Comets get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in April.

Not much got past Camryn Simes, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Penn Manor off the board. Simes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Josiah Wiker was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landry Weidner, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Penn Manor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly five runs.

On Penn Manor's side, Oliver Hanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
