Volleyball Recap: Johnsburg Comes Up Short

Johnsburg was the 2-1 winner over Antioch when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Skyhawks fell just short of the Sequoits by a score of 2-1 on Monday. While the Skyhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Sequoits 25-19 in the first set.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Johnsburg lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-22, 26-24.

Kaia Sasak paced Johnsburg's offense, picking up eight kills. Sasak got some help from Adelaide Bruns and her 14 assists. Sasak was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Johnsburg has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Antioch, the victory snapped their losing streak at six matches and leaves them with a 6-17 record.

Johnsburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Sandwich on the 1st. As for Antioch, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Lakes on the 30th.
