Football Recap: Scott Comes Up Short + How To Watch

The Scott Highlanders were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 23-17 to the Meigs County Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Tigers are ranked 98th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Meigs County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tuff Ricker, who rushed for 137 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Ricker has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Mow, who rushed for 63 yards and one score.

This is the second loss in a row for Scott and nudges their season record down to 5-3. As for Meigs County, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scott will welcome Wartburg Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 35.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Meigs County, they will challenge Austin-East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Roadrunners' rather soft defense (which has allowed 39.63 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
