Football Game Preview: Marvin Ridge Mavericks vs. Porter Ridge Pirates + How To Watch

The Marvin Ridge Mavericks will square off against the Porter Ridge Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Marvin Ridge's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Weddington on Friday. They were dealt a 47-0 defeat at the hands of the Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Warriors are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, after only 13 points in their last game, Porter Ridge made sure to put some points up on the board against Piedmont on Friday. The Pirates blew past the Panthers 41-6. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Marvin Ridge better keep an eye on Rai'Shawn Elmore. He was instrumental in Porter Ridge's win, rushing for 145 yards and four scores on only 12 carries. Cam Washington got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Porter Ridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 218 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Piedmont only rushed for 53.

Porter Ridge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Christian Cathen, Washington, and Dylan Blakeney picked up one apiece. Washington got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Porter Ridge's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Marvin Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

Marvin Ridge barely slipped by Porter Ridge in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 22-21. Do the Mavericks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
