Basketball Recap: Point Arena Piles Up the Points Against Trinity Prep

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Point Arena had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They breezed past the Trinity Prep Crusaders to the tune of 80-20. That looming 80-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.

Tosh Mouton had another great game (as he tends to do), dropping a double-double with 25 points and 12 boards. Thanks to that strong game, he now owns an excellent 45.7% field goal percentage. Jose Bernal was another key player, shooting 46% from the field en route to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Point Arena smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in 19 consecutive games.

Point Arena pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.5 points over those games. As for Trinity Prep, they moved to 13-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Point Arena will head out to square off against San Francisco Waldorf at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Pirates will be up against the Wolverines' rather soft defense (which has allowed 50.6 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Trinity Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
