Basketball Recap: Quevion Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Utopian Academy for the Arts over Mundy's Mill

Utopian Academy for the Arts extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-5. They fell 70-63 to the Mundy's Mill Tigers. Utopian Academy for the Arts lost against Mundy's Mill in their previous head to head back in December of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 72-33 score last time.

Several Utopian Academy for the Arts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Quevion Johnson, who posted 17 points and six boards. With that strong performance, Johnson is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Khalif Morgan was another key player, shooting 50% from the field on his way to 15 points and four steals.

As for Mundy's Mill, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6. That's two games straight that they have won by exactly seven points.

Mundy's Mill's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Collen Woods, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 19 points. Woods has also also been stellar as far as three-point shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 50% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Christopher Johnson, who shot 42% from the field en route to 17 points and seven rebounds.

Utopian Academy for the Arts has already played their next matchup, a 78-31 victory against Cross Keys on the 16th. As for Mundy's Mill, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-51 loss against Washington on the 11th.
