Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast Comes Up Short

Richland Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 50-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Conway Tigers. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Tigers are ranked 17th).

Conway got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayleb Mckinnon out in front who went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Mckinnon a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Avery Brantley, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Richland Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Conway, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-2.

Richland Northeast didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 72-34 loss against Mullins on the 21st. As for Conway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-31 victory against South Brunswick on the 21st.
