Football Recap: Seymour Starts off Right with Win over Griswold/Wheeler

Seymour took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They walked away with a 35-26 victory over the Griswold/Wheeler Wolverines.

Connor Shea was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 304 yards and four scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Those 304 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anthony Cortello, who rushed for 72 yards and one TD.

Seymour didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ronan Carboni and Max Brito.

Seymour didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 21-14 win against Ansonia on the 18th. As for Griswold/Wheeler, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bacon Academy/Lyman Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on October 17.
