Basketball Recap: Lathan Wilborn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cape Fear Christian Academy over Crossroads Christian

Cape Fear Christian Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 68-54 fall against the Crossroads Christian Colts on Friday. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Colts earlier this season, when they won 61-59.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lathan Wilborn, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Another player making a difference was Kayden Dunkins, who went 9 of 22 on his way to 20 points.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 13-7. As for Crossroads Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-6.

Cape Fear Christian Academy will challenge New Garden Friends at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Crossroads Christian, they and Berean Baptist Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Berean Baptist Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
