Fuchs Mizrachi will bounce into Sunday's match after beating Lawrence Upper, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Mayhem won by a run and slipped past the Lions 19-18. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mayhem needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Louis Frank was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. Oshri Ashwal was another key player, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Hillel Academy came into Thursday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 9-4 win over Northgate on Thursday.
The team relied heavily on Levi Greenfield, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zach Itzkowitz, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Fuchs Mizrachi's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Hillel Academy, their record is now 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Sunday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fuchs Mizrachi has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hillel Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Fuchs Mizrachi suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Hillel Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Mayhem avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
