Baseball Game Preview: Farmington Farmers vs. Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans

The Farmington Farmers will head out to challenge the Bushnell-Prairie City Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Farmington has three straight wins, Bushnell-Prairie City has 29 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Farmington proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Eureka 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Farmers have posted since April 19th.

The team relied heavily on Lane Wheelwright, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Marvel, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, Bushnell-Prairie City came up short against West Prairie on Thursday and fell 6-3.

Bushnell-Prairie City's loss dropped their record down to 0-28. As for Farmington, their win bumped their record up to 21-6.

Farmington skirted past Bushnell-Prairie City 4-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Farmers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
