Basketball Recap: Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate Comes Up Short

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They fell 36-28 to the Cambridge Christian Lancers. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

Despite the loss, Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jasani Andrews posted 13 points and five rebounds. Andrews is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Emerie Bohannon-Chenault was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Cambridge Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate will challenge Sports Leadership & Management on Tuesday. Sports Leadership & Management will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Brooks DeBartolo Collegiate surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cambridge Christian, they and Angeline Academy of Innovation will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Cambridge Christian is facing Angeline Academy of Innovation at the right time seeing as Angeline Academy of Innovation is stuck on an 18-game losing streak.
