Recap: Meade Buffaloes vs. Hodgeman County Longhorns
The Meade Buffaloes scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hodgeman County 76-46 at home. Meade might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four matches by 24 points or more this season.
When it comes to explaining why Hodgeman County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Owen Reece. Despite the final result, he scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. Reece scored a full 52.2% of Hodgeman County's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Hazen Rydquist, who scored 11 points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Hodgeman County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meade pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Hodgeman County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-2.
Meade will take on Kiowa County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at. Kiowa County is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Hodgeman County will be home for the holidays to greet Spearville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Spearville and Hodgeman County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
