Football Recap: Savannah Finds Playoff Glory Versus Northeast

Savannah had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed past the Northeast Vikings to the tune of 78-0 on Thursday. The Savages' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Savannah's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aiden Knechtenhofer, who threw for 115 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Savannah was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 294 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 221 rushing yards in eight consecutive games.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Caden Bowen, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Savannah's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.6 points on average over those games. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Savannah wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-10 win against Smithville on the 7th. Northeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
