Baseball Game Preview: Clovis West Golden Eagles vs. Clovis Cougars

For the second straight game, Clovis West will face off against Clovis. The Golden Eagles will welcome the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Clovis West nor Clovis made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Golden Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Cougars 3-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Golden Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Andrew Griffin looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Clovis West's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nolin Santillan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Clovis West's victory bumped their record up to 14-9. As for Clovis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-14.
