Football Game Preview: Marshall Lions vs. Lawrenceville Indians

The Marshall Lions will challenge the Lawrenceville Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Marshall and four for Lawrenceville.

On Friday, Marshall lost to Casey-Westfield on the road by a 50-34 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 229th, while the Warriors are ranked 108th).

Meanwhile, Lawrenceville managed to keep up with Robinson until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Indians lost 39-19 to the Maroons. While the Indians didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Maroons 7-0 in the first quarter.

Lawrenceville's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Everything went Marshall's way against Lawrenceville when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Marshall made off with a 33-10 win. In that game, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 20-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
