Volleyball Game Preview: Compass Academy Cougars vs. Crane Cranes

Compass Academy is 7-1 against Crane since September of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Cougars will challenge the Cranes at 11:00 a.m. Compass Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Crane will be coming in after a defeat.

Compass Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lamesa with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won eight in a row.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Compass Academy was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-11, 25-6.

Compass Academy can attribute much of their success to Makayla Levario, who had nine digs.

Compass Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last eight contests.

Meanwhile, Crane lost 3-0 to Denver City on Tuesday. The Cranes haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Compass Academy's win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Crane, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Compass Academy took their victory against Crane when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Cranes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
