Basketball Recap: Cannon Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Saturday. Cannon lost 78-58 to Calvary Day School. Cannon was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Calvary Day School apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2018.

Despite the defeat, Cannon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore DJ Rogers dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards set a new season-high mark for Rogers. Gabriel Steinour also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Owen Calvert produced another solid performance dropping a double-double with 28 points and ten assists for Calvary Day School. The game was Calvert's 26th in a row with at least 16 points. Luca Sarnowska was another key player, putting up 21 points and five rebounds.

Cannon's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Calvary Day School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

Cannon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-43 defeat against Carmel Christian on the 9th. As for Calvary Day School, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-64 win against Davidson Day on the 9th.
