Basketball Recap: Pathway Christian's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was a proper cat-fight when Pathway Christian duked it out withGalesburg Christian on Friday. The Pathway Christian Panthers fell to the Galesburg Christian Lions 49-45. The Panthers were up 22-8 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Pathway Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Denver Nelson and Preston Yutzy. Nelson went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points, while Yutzy went 7 for 16 en route to 17 points. Nelson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played.

Ryan Walker had an outrageously good game for Galesburg Christian as he dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 boards. Those 16 points gave Walker a new career-high. Isaac Movida was another key player, putting up 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

With the defeat, Pathway Christian broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-5. As for Galesburg Christian, the win also got them back to even at 5-5.

Pathway Christian has already played their next game, a 63-26 loss against Quad Cities Christian on the 13th. As for Galesburg Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-49 defeat against Calvary Christian Academy on the 14th.
