Truckee has gone a perfect 10-0 against Sparks recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Truckee Wolverines will challenge the Sparks Railroaders at 1:00 p.m. Truckee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Truckee turned things around against Wooster on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Colts.
Parker Bacon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keelan Hyams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Truckee: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Rhys Roberts was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Hyams wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Truckee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Truckee is 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Sparks was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 19th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against North Valleys, falling 10-1.
Sparks saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Rogers, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Truckee's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Sparks, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Sparks' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Truckee has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. It's a different story for Sparks, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Truckee's sizable advantage in that area, Sparks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Truckee took their win against Sparks when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Truckee since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
