Baseball Recap: North Duplin Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

North Duplin barely beat Neuse Charter the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rebels' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won nine in a row.

North Duplin got a great performance from Cole Grady as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Grady is becoming a predictor of the Rebels' success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Garris Warren, who went 4-for-5 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Noa Quintanillia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

North Duplin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Neuse Charter only posted an OBP of .261.

North Duplin pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Neuse Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Coming up, North Duplin will head out to challenge Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rebels' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Leopards have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Neuse Charter, they will welcome Eastern Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
