Volleyball Recap: Great Hearts Western Hills Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Great Hearts Western Hills unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent on Friday.

Great Hearts Western Hills was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-23.

Sarah Rodriguez paced Great Hearts Western Hills' offense, picking up three kills. Rodriguez got some help from Avianna Martinez and her three assists. Rodriguez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Varsity Opponent wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Temple Christian Academy on the 15th. Hopefully Great Hearts Western Hills paid attention to Varsity Opponent's contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on Varsity Opponent at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
