Baseball Game Preview: Shadyside Tigers vs. The Linsly School Cadets

The Shadyside Tigers will head out on the road to square off against The Linsly School Cadets at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Shadyside's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They skirted past Shenandoah 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Zeps: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Luke Crozier, who gave up just five hits to keep Shenandoah off the board. Crozier has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Shadyside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Damian Russell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Russell also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, The Linsly School entered their tilt with Brooke on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They had just enough and edged out the Bruins 12-10.

Dominic Fato was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyga Goto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

The Linsly School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

The Linsly School's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Shadyside, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Shadyside beat The Linsly School 7-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
