Softball Recap: Perry Finds Home Field Redemption Against Casteel

There's no place like home for Perry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Casteel Colts on Tuesday. With that win, the Pumas brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Julianna Nava made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, CC Hall was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Ella Jackman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Perry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Perry back to even at 11-11. As for Casteel, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

Perry will have a chance to go back-to-back against Casteel: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
