New Kent got themselves on the board against Lafayette on Friday, but Lafayette never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 20-0 victory. Considering the Trojans have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Abbie Kegley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with five RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, New Kent got a massive performance out of Sydney Eubank, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Eubank has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall White, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
New Kent hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
New Kent's record is now 8-3. As for Lafayette, they are on a 33-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Kent will host Grafton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Trojans' favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Clippers have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Lafayette, they will welcome West Point at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Pointers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight.
