Basketball Recap: Franklin Community Comes Up Short

Franklin Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by the Plainfield Quakers and fell 73-44. The Grizzly Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-20.

Plainfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Berkeley Williams led the charge by going 5 for 9 en route to 17 points along with five assists and three steals. That's the most assists Williams has posted since back in February of 2024. Abrielle Dugan was another key player, going 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Franklin Community's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Plainfield, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Franklin Community will head out to square off against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Plainfield, they will challenge Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Central will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Plainfield surely won't give up without a fight.
