Baseball Recap: Joel Barlow Wins Going Away Against Newtown

Joel Barlow won against Lewis Mills on Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Everything went the Falcons' way against the Newtown Nighthawks as they made off with a 10-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won six matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Will Gregor made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Joel Barlow let TJ Baer and Billy Bardani run wild. Baer went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Bardani went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave Bardani a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Maryott, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Joel Barlow's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Newtown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
