Basketball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Comes Up Short

Lighthouse Christian was the 79-39 winner over Aurora Christian Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Lighthouse Christian Chargers fell 79-71 to the Aurora Christian Academy Arrows on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Chargers came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Arrows are ranked 403rd).

It was another big night for Sawyer Jones, who went 14 for 27 en route to 33 points along with eight rebounds and six assists for Aurora Christian Academy. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in points. Rowen Haynes was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 18 points.

Lighthouse Christian's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Aurora Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lighthouse Christian has already played their next matchup (against Crane), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Aurora Christian Academy will challenge Riverview Bible Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aurora Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
