Basketball Game Preview: Las Cruces Bulldawgs vs. Organ Mountain Knights

The Las Cruces Bulldawgs are taking a road trip to challenge the Organ Mountain Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Las Cruces will be strutting in after a victory while Organ Mountain will be coming in after a defeat.

Las Cruces was handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Gadsden on Monday. Las Cruces simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Gadsden 54-10. The Bulldawgs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Las Cruces' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danae Pacheco, who went 5 of 10 to rack up 17 points, and Bethzy Quinones, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points along with five boards and three steals. Quinones has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sofia Herrera, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Organ Mountain was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 48-44 to Alamogordo.

Las Cruces has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points over those games. As for Organ Mountain, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-15.

Las Cruces beat Organ Mountain 62-49 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Las Cruces since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
