Basketball Recap: Linn Takes a Loss

If Linn was feeling good fresh off their 55-22 takedown of Russellville last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Linn Wildcats took a 60-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Owensville Dutchmen on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 43-32 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Linn lost, don't look at Kiana Hostetler. Despite the final result, she went 6 for 14 on her way to 17 points. Hostetler is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Nicole Grellner was another key player, putting up six points.

Linn has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Owensville, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3.

Linn will welcome Fayette at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Linn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season. Owensville has already played their next contest (against St. Pius X), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
