Basketball Game Preview: Carroll Tigers vs. Gregory-Portland Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Carroll Tigers take on the Gregory-Portland Wildcats at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday... Carroll is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Carroll had to suffer through a 80-51 loss at the hands of Ray. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 650th, while the Texans are ranked 290th).

Meanwhile, Gregory-Portland hadn't done well against Flour Bluff recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Gregory-Portland came out on top against Flour Bluff by a score of 61-52.

Carroll now has a losing record at 12-13. As for Gregory-Portland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 19 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season.

Carroll suffered a grim 84-64 defeat to Gregory-Portland in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Carroll avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
