Basketball Recap: Rockbridge Academy Takes a Loss

Rockbridge Academy lost against Covenant Life back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The game between the Rockbridge Academy Scots and the Covenant Life Cougars didn't end well, with the Rockbridge Academy Scots falling 49-33. While losing is never fun, the Scots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Cougars are ranked 104th).

Daniel Melendez was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 11 en route to 16 points along with eight steals and six assists for Covenant Life. Another player making a difference was Elijah Hughes, who posted 16 points.

Rockbridge Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Covenant Life, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Rockbridge Academy will take on Greater Grace Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant Life, they will square off against Living Grace Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Covenant Life is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.
