South Jones had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points) and they went ahead and made it 14 on Friday. They took down the Brookhaven Panthers 62-45. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Panthers are ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tristian Thomas, who posted seven points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christain Lyons, who earned four points and six boards.

South Jones' win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 28-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 27.9 points. As for Brookhaven, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
