Softball Game Preview: Prestonsburg Blackcats vs. Magoffin County Hornets

Prestonsburg is 1-8 against Magoffin County since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Blackcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Prestonsburg is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Jenkins. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Prestonsburg got a big performance out of Hailey Cline, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Liv Williams, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Magoffin County came up short against East Ridge on Wednesday and fell 10-6.

Prestonsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Magoffin County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Prestonsburg skirted past Magoffin County 18-16 when the teams last played back in March. Will the Blackcats repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
