Basketball Recap: Villa Rica Takes a Loss

Villa Rica was the 58-55 winner over Rome when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Villa Rica Wildcats took a 75-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rome Wolves on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Wolves are ranked 45th).

Villa Rica has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Rome, they pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Villa Rica Wildcats duke it out with the Lithia Springs Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rome, they are taking a road trip to square off against North Oconee at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Oconee will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Rome surely won't give up without a fight.
