Football Recap: St. Bernard's Central Catholic Gets the Win

While St. Bernard's Central Catholic has struggled on the road with four straight losses dating back to last season, that wasn't the case on Friday thanks to Caleb Lafreniere. The Bernardians enjoyed a cozy 44-28 win over the Maynard Tigers with plenty of help from Lafreniere, who rushed for 51 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 224 yards and two TDs while completing 76.2% of his passes. He is also on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last four games he's played.

Another player making a difference was Nathan Kavanagh, who picked up 89 receiving yards and a pair of scores. His longest reception was for an incredible 75 yards.

St. Bernard's Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Maynard, their loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Bernard's Central Catholic will square off against Leicester at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maynard, they will take on Clinton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gaels' defense has only allowed 12 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
